summer reflections.
It is finally autumn, and I feel capable of describing H(u)ny Mother’s expansive summer programming. There were a lot of shifts in the structure that I produced offerings and events to have more flexibility and grace in my day-to-day life. We had some amazing spaces throughout the summer that impacted over 50 individuals.
Summer Programming:
Rhythm and Flow: in collaboration with Will Evans Jr. HM produced the rhythm and flow series to give community members space to practice a nourishing yoga flow while enjoying live mixed vinyl jazz records at All City Homes in Oak Park.
Heartcentered Haven: a grief and mourning space to practice integration methods utilizing land stewardship, meditation, movement, and reflection at Bill Bean Community Garden in South Sacramento.
Grown and Grounded Partnership: HM participated in a limited class series with All Cultured barbershop and wellness space with evening vinyasa.
Adaptability Unblocking Immersion: this workshop invited community members to explore limitations in their personal lives and communal organizing work through movement, organization, artistic expression, and medicine making.
Bartering Network: HM launched a bartering network where community members can connect and exchange services and goods at equitable rates.
Thinking of the impact of this work is monumental and a great honor. The fall and winter programming has started with so much energy and dedication.
Can’t wait to check in!
